St Gall’s (Antrim) 1-11 Bryansford (Down) 1-10

St Gall’s just edged out Bryansford to claim their sixth FBD Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland football 7s title at a packed Glenalbyn.

The Antrim men were locked with the runners-up and another Down club, Castlewellan on five titles, and held on to move to the top of the roll of honour.

This was the Antrim side’s fifth title since 2005 and while Corofin ended the Ulster dominance since then last year, it was back to normal this time around with all four semi-finalists coming from the northern province.

There were no signs of tiredness despite both teams playing their sixth game and Bryansford just held the edge in the first half.

They were never headed in that period and led by 0-6 to 0-5 at the break.

St Gall’s had moved a point ahead thanks to scores from Andrew McLean and Michael Pollock but a Conor McGinn goaled restored Bryansford’s advantage.

McLean sent a scorching shot to the roof of the net not long afterwards though and that proved the difference in the end.
