Commentator Liam Sheedy’s comments after Shane Dowling’s second goal for Limerick on Sunday disappeared from the highlights reel.
When Dowling scored there was a conversation between the referee Barry Kelly and his umpire before the goal was given.
RTÉ co-commentator Sheedy was unimpressed when the goal was given and said he felt that referee had made the wrong decision:
“To me that should have been a free-out….I’m surprised he let that goal stand, in my view that goal should not have been allowed.”
Fast-forward to the highlights on the Sunday Game later that night, though, and it’s a very different story.
“Barry Kelly was absolutely 100% correct,” said Sheedy. “It was a goal and a good goal.”
As has been pointed out by an astute observer on Twitter, Sheedy made those comments at the start of the second half on the live programme.
Were the two edited together to spare Sheedy’s blushes for making a poor call originally?
