Pair of Dublin appeals fail ahead of Connolly case

The Dublin County Board have had a disappointing day at the Central Hearings Committee.

Senior hurler Liam Rushe has failed to overturn his ban - although it was reduced from two games to one - after he was sent-off for striking in the closing stages of Dublin's All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Waterford in mid-July.

The Committee upheld the ruling of the CCCC to ban the versatile Dublin star and Rushe will now serve that suspension at the start of next year's National League.

Meanwhile, the Dublin and Armagh County Boards have lost their appeals against the charges of disruptive conduct by their players during a challenge match earlier this summer.

Both counties have been fined €6,500.

Dublin's Diarmuid Connolly is expected to appear before the Central Hearings Committee next to appeal against the one-match for the red card he was shown during last Sunday's All Ireland semi-final loss to Mayo.
