O'Driscoll hits out at 'cowardly' criticism as Cuthbert steps down as Cork boss

Colm O'Driscoll has hit out at Brian Cuthbert's detractors and praised him following confirmation of his departure as Cork senior football manager this morning.

Tadhg MacCarthaigh man O'Driscoll, who started last Saturday's qualifier defeat to Kildare but didn't make the teams that lost and drew against Kerry, posted a series of messages on Twitter.

He also drew attention to referee Padraig Hughes' controversial decision to award Kerry a penalty in the second half of the drawn final in Killarney when Cork were in the ascendancy.

He tweeted: "As a part of the cork senior football squad I would like to take this chance to thank Brian Cuthbert, his management team and backroom staff for the excellent work that has been done over the last 2 years!

"I fully believe that they have gathered a good group of players and have done outstanding work with them. I also think the criticism the management received in this period is bullshit!! And cowardly from some ppl (people) hiding behind technology!!!

"There was no stone left unturned when it came to preparing for game from the sideline!! As a player I can say that anything I ever asked for as regards help and advice was granted without a problem.

"I'd like to thank Brian and his staff for 2 enjoyable years and wish him luck with his future endeavours! A top class manager who missed out on a munster title because of a poor refereeing decision."
