It was a dramatic conclusion to the McCann Park game. Dublin were leading by two points when Brendan Quigley goaled with five minutes remaining to put Laois ahead.

Dublin were awarded a penalty almost immediately afterwards however, and Colm McManamon made no mistake to restore the visitors’ advantage. Laois did draw level again but Ó Conghaile snatched the honours.

Dean Rock was top scorer for Dublin with six points, while Donie Kingston landed seven for Laois.

Meath got the point they needed last night, with a David Bray goal helping them to 1-14 to 1-14 draw with DCU at Páirc Táilteann, which will also host next weekend’s game.

Darroch Mulhall was in tremendous form, scoring nine points, including six from play, as Kildare trounced UCD by 0-21 to 1-5. Fionn Dowling slotted four while UCD struggled to make any impact on the Kildare defence.

Indeed, it was Kildare player, Niall Kelly who provided most of the students’ best moments, although Ryan Basquel did finish brilliantly for a 34th minute goal.

DIT have qualified for the semi-finals for the first time after beating IT Carlow 1-12 to 1-9. Paul Brogan's first half goal helped DIT to their win over fellow students IT Carlow. In the same group, Wexford racked up their second win in four days when defeating Wicklow by 2-15 to 2-11 in Gorey.

Elsewhere, goals from Hugh Gahan and Sean Gannon sent Carlow on their way to a 3-8 to 1-12 victory over Louth at Dr Cullen Park.

At O’Connor Park, Willie Mulhall’s 51st minute goal continued Offaly’s good start to the season with a cakewalk 1-17 to 0-3 success over under strength NUI Maynooth.
