Mayo medical team accept that Lee Keegan ‘should have been withdrawn’ earlier after this collision

Keegan appeared to have suffered a suspected concussion during their match at Pairc Ui Rinn after colliding with Cork's Eoin Cadogan.
Cadogan was immediately withdrawn after the particularly nasty looking clash, but the Mayo captain was not withdrawn until a little over ten minutes later.
The County Board released a statement this evening saying that “Player welfare is of paramount importance to all involved with Mayo GAA” and that Keegan will follow return to play protocols in the coming days.
Mayo boss Stephen Rochford expressed concern for his captain after the game.
“I haven't spoken yet with Dr. Sean (Moffatt) but he was referring that he was fine,” said Rochford after the full-time whistle.
“But quite clearly, then, our own video analysis team and our own doc could notice it straight away. Then, as quickly as we could get him out of the field, (we did).
“He was communicating at the end of the game and, hopefully, if there is a concussion aspect, then it's something minor.”

“Player welfare is of paramount importance to all involved with Mayo GAA and members of the Mayo medical team have been to the forefront of player welfare initiatives in the GAA nationally.
“Lee is recovering and will continue to be monitored over the coming days. As always, Mayo will follow the established Return to play protocols.”
