Kerry's Bohan to miss rest of season

Defender Daniel Bohan looks like he has played his last match for Kerry this year after tearing his Achilles tendon during a practice match yesterday.

Bohan suffered the injury in a final trial game for the Kerry panel ahead of next Sunday's All-Ireland SFC second round qualifier against Westmeath.

The Austin Stacks clubman made one appearance in this year's Championship, starting at full-back in Kerry's Munster SFC first round win over Tipperary.

Kerry boss Jack O'Connor is sweating on the fitness of former captain Darran O'Sullivan, who is nursing a hamstring injury and sat out the game in Tralee.

But free-taker Bryan Sheehan, who missed the Munster semi-final defeat to Cork, is on course to start against the midlanders. He came through the trial game and is poised to return in centre-field alongside Anthony Maher.

Kieran O'Leary's position in attack is coming under threat. James O'Donoghue caught the eye as a substitute against Cork and could be rewarded with a starting berth, with Patrick Curtin and Donnchadh Walsh also in contention.
