GMIT, Derry, DCU, Wicklow, Armagh and Louth got their Bord na Móna Kehoe Cup campaigns off to a winning start this afternoon.

Reigning champions GMIT replicated their first round win over Roscommon 12 months, with an equally impressive display this afternoon at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Ballyhaunis.

Nine players were on target for the college side who will meet Derry in the next round.

Breheny snatched DCU's first goal after five points, with Dublin's Sean McGrath registering a second green flag for the students who led by 2-9 to 0-8 at the break.

Breheny completed DCU's hat-trick on the restart as his side opened up a 3-14 to 0-8 lead, and the students could afford to ease up in the final quarter, with manager Paul O'Brien introducing a raft of substitutes.

Wicklow will be DCU's opponents in the next round, after an Andy O'Brien goal helped them to a 1-15 to 0-15 win in Bray.

O'Brien top-scored with 1-8 for the home side in a game which Wicklow led by 0-9 to 0-7 at the interval.

Wicklow held a 1-12 to 0-9 lead in the 49th minute, with O'Brien's goal coming two minutes after the restart.
