Hurling video goes around the world to help injured athletes

A host of Irish sports stars joined the late Donal Walsh in a fantastic video to promote an organisation that wants to help athletes affected by catastrophic sports injuries.

The clip, which took nearly two years to complete, features hurling greats Joe Canning, Sean Og O Hailpín and Diarmuid Lyng showcasing the skills of hurling in famous Irish landmarks.

They are joined by greats from other sports, such as Brian O'Driscoll and Paul McGrath, and hurling enthusiasts who show off their skills in other famous locations around the world, such as Mount Everest and Berlin's Brandenburg Gate.

The film was put together by Lyng for the non-profit organisation World Sports Team, which was founded by a Kerry native, Eamonn Sayers.

The organisation said: “We are the world’s sports network from fans, to professional athletes, to coaches.

“We are working together to raise awareness and generate support for those affected by catastrophic sports injuries. Already, we have top sports stars supporting us asking their fans to join the team. It is free to join and is the one sports team that every sportsperson should support.”

You'll be able to spot the hurlers by their skill with the sliotar, but see if you can recognise the other sport stars.
