All-Ireland champions Kerry have five All-Star footballers, followed by beaten finalists Donegal with four and semi-finalists Dublin and Mayo with three each.

Kerry backs Paul Murphy and Peter Crowley, midfielder David Moran, and forwards Kieran Donaghy and James O’Donoghue have all been chosen as All-Stars.

Donegal’s Paul Durcan got the nod in goals and is joined by team-mates Neil McGee in the back line, Neil Gallagher in midfield and Michael Murphy at half forward.

Dublin’s representatives are half back James McCarthy and half forwards Paul Flynn and Diarmuid Connolly.

The final three are Mayo men Keith Higgins and Colm Boyle from the backs and forward Cillian O’Connor.

The All-Star awards, sponsored by Opel, will be presented at a ceremony in Dublin on Friday, and the hurling All-Stars and Players of the Year for both football and hurling will be announced live on RTE on the night.

GAA President Liam O’Neill congratulated the successful footballers on their awards.

“It was another superb year for our championships and the 15 footballers named on this team played their part in that, producing superb performances that powered their respective counties’ challenges,” O’Neill told gaa.ie.

“After an All-Ireland medal All-Star awards are cherished and the tradition and significance attached to them remind us of legacy that previous winners have left behind.”
