Crisis in Mayo as footballers vote no confidence in management team

The Mayo squad have reportedly held a vote on the current management team's competence to do the job.

The vote was held just over a week ago and came out against the joint management team of Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes.

Player representatives Cillian O'Connor and Keith Higgins then informed the management of the result of the vote.

“The two player representatives met with Pat and Noel to inform them of the player’s meeting,” Mike Finnerty of the Mayo News told Newstalk this morning.

“To inform them of the detail and the exact issues that were there. Most importantly, informed them that a vote of no confidence had been taken and that the majority of the squad had voted to support that motion.

“That is as much as we know for sure at this stage.

“There has been no official statement from either the County Board or Pat Holmes or Noel Connelly.”

The Mayo County Board are now expected to call an emergency meeting before the end of the week.

Leading Mayo footballer Aidan O’Shea set tongues wagging earlier this month when he tweeted cryptically in relation to Mayo GAA.
