Club GAA round-up: Ballygunner claim hat-trick in Waterford

Ballygunner claimed a thoroughly convincing third consecutive senior county title with a 4-20 to 1-12 win over Passage at Walsh Park.

Both sides were fortunate not to lose a man in the third minute after a melee broke out.

Passage were out of the blocks quicker with the breeze at their backs, but Ballygunner had goals from Tim O’Sullivan and Billy O’Keeffe and went in at the break 2-5 to 0-10 up.

An outrageous save by Ballygunner’s Stephen O’Keeffe defied Conor Carey in the 42nd minute and man-of-the-match Pauric Mahony and Stephen Power added further goals to embroider Ballygunner’s victory.

A Thomas Connors goal in the 54th minute brought some respectability to the scoreboard.

The Clare Senior Football final replay saw Kilmurry Ibrickane put in a powerful second half performance to claim their eleventh title with a 2-13 to 0-6 win over Cratlow.

After a defensive first half, they led 0-6 to 0-4 but they opened up in the second period, to carve through a disappointing Cratloe outfit.

Martin McMahon grabbed the game’s first goal on 39 minutes. And when veteran sub Johnny Daly was pulled down in injury time, Keelan Sexton duly dispatched the resultant penalty to the Cratloe net.

Munster football champions Clonmel Commercials have been dethroned in Tipp, where Loughmore-Castleiney will meet Moyle Rovers in Tipperary football final.

Champions in 2013 and 2014, Loughmore-Castleiney beat holders Commercials 0-9 to 0-8 in Boherlahan today.

Earlier in Cahir, Moyle Rovers hammered Kilsheelan-Kilcash by 4-14 to 0-6.

St Rynagh's are Offaly hurling champions. They were 2-16 to 1-15 winners over Birr in Tullamore.

They withstood a late Birr charged as Ronan Hughes rounded off his personal tally of 1-4 with the game’s decisive goal on the cusp of full-time.

Patrickswell are champions of Limerick after they beat Ballybrown by 1-25 to 1-7 at the Gaelic Grounds.

Borris-Kilcotton won the Laois hurling title for the first time in their history. They secured a 1-18 to 2-10 win over Rathdowney-Errill at O'Moore Park.

Meanwhile, Slaughtneil are the first Derry team to win the Ulster Club Hurling title. They beat Loughgiel Shamrocks of Antrim by 2-14 to 1-13 at the Athletic Grounds.

Corofin are Galway Football champions for the fourth year in a row. They beat Salthill-Knocknacarra by 0-16 to 0-11 at Pearse Stadium.

Ramor United clinched their first Cavan championship title in 24 years after a 0-10 to 0-8 win over Castlerahan in their replay at Kingspan Breffni Park.
