A goal and six-points from corner forward Paddy Cunningham was the highlight of a terrific display from the Ulster men while centre-back Justin Crozier gave a similarly stellar performance.

All the goals game came in the opening half and had Antrim leading 2-9 to 2-3 at the break. Ironically Crozier will probably be blamed for the Louth opening goal but in the very next play, the number six made a storming run up the centre and crashed home a goal of his own to cancel out his earlier mistake.

Gerard O’Boyle (2), Tomás McCann (2), Midfielder Michael McCann (3) and Kevin Niblock all got on the score-sheet. The win sees Antrim get promoted twice in successive year from Division Four to Three and now to Two.

Cavan 0-20 Offaly 0-14

Cavan recorded a good win at home to Offaly in Division Three of the National Football league last night at Breffni Park.

The Ulster side, managed by former Dublin Manager Tommy Carr have had mixed fortunes in the league so far picking up three wins from six but this well-merited victory at least ensures they should avoid relegation.

They led at the break by eight points to seven after some good forward play by Cian Mackey and Nicky Brennan. Minus the services of the still injured Seanie Johnston who has been sidelined for the past two months they turned in a good second-half performance to outscore their opponents 12 points to seven, Mackey and Brennan doing much of the damage.

John Reynolds and Niall MacNamee had it back to two points on a couple of occasions but they could never gain parity which means the sides are level on points and level on games played.
