Former Cork footballer Ciaran Sheehan impressed when he played his first AFL game with Carlton this morning.
He was given his first start for the side after playing for the last few months with the side’s feeder club, Northern Blues, in the lower leagues.
Melbourne-based Carlton enjoyed a 39 point win over the Gold Coast and Sheehan played for the entire match.
Watch here for his intercept and goal assist during the game.

There was an Irish contingent in the crowd to cheer him on and they were led by Sheehan’s biggest fan, his mother Liz.

She flew out to Australia after hearing midweek that Sheehan would be making his AFL debut at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.
Sheehan won the All-Ireland football championship with Cork in 2010 and now looks set for a successful career in Australian football.
