Waterord champions Ballygunner won their first ever Munster Senior Hurling Final at Semple Stadium when they defeated Blackrock of Cork in a pulsating game of hurling.

The sides were level at half-time but a Paul Foley goal shortly after the break following a long delivery from Fergal Hartley gave Ballygunner the drive to win.

Paul Flynn, a real hero for Ballygunner on the day, sealed victory in the dying minutes with a smashing goal to bring his tally to 1-9 for the day.

Ballygunner are the first Waterford team to win the Munster Senior Hurling Final since Mount Sion in 1981, and the win was well deserved.
