Force India have been fined €5,000 following their second tyre mix-up in the space of just six days.

The team were reprimanded by the stewards at the end of Sunday’s German Grand Prix for fixing tyres allocated to drivers Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi to the wrong cars.

Team owner Vijay Mallya earlier this week expressed confidence the issues that blighted their weekend in Hockenheim, as the team also suffered mechanical issues, a grid penalty and a crash in qualifying, were now behind them.

But during today’s first practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix, the team fitted a set of prime (harder) tyres to the car of test and reserve driver Paul di Resta that were allocated for final practice, qualifying and the race.

As that was against the regulations, and given it was another breach so soon after being let off with a warning on Sunday, the stewards were left with no alternative but to issue a fine.
