Fallon wary of ground for Hurricane
Kieren Fallon is hoping that last season’s Horse of the Year Hurricane Run will be able to handle the testing conditions at the Curragh on his reappearance in the Tattersalls Gold Cup tomorrow.
The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner faces just two rivals in the Group One contest over 10 furlongs, and Fallon will be looking for an instant tonic after the disappointment of George Washington in the 2000 Guineas.
“I hope he can handle these conditions,” said Fallon.
“He has gone in it before but he is a top of the ground horse essentially.
“It looks to be a pretty light Group One with the exception of the mare (Alexander Goldrun) and hopefully he can make up for George Washington’s disappointment,” Fallon told At The Races.
“The small field wouldn’t be a problem, you can do anything with him. You can go on and make the running or you hold him up like I did in the Arc, it won’t be a problem.
“As long as there is no more rain it should be OK.”
