17/01/2005 - 15:20:20
Jerzy Dudek will keep his place in the Liverpool side for the re-arranged FA Cup third round tie at Burnley despite the howler which gifted Manchester United victory at Anfield on Saturday.

But Liverpool chief Rafael Benitez will rest skipper Steven Gerrard and several key players against the Coca-Cola Championship side, who have not conceded a home goal in their last five matches.

Liverpool will use many of the youngsters who have taken the Merseysiders into the Carling Cup semi-final, Benitez forced into such a decision because of his growing injury list and the the fact that his two new imports – Mauricio Pellegrino and Fernando Morientes – were not signed in time to play in the match.

Football Association rules state they needed to be registered in time for the original date for the match, which was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch on January 7.

Provisional squad: Dudek, Carragher, Raven, Whitbread, Hyypia, Riise, Traore, Biscan, Diao, Sinama-Pongolle, Mellor, Nunez, Baros, Harrison, Welsh, Potter, Warnock, Hamann.
