Drogs and Wanderers go head to head

10/11/2009 - 09:52:51
Drogheda United and Bray Wanderers go head to head at United Park tonight with the loser facing the daunting prospect of the two-legged play-off for Premier Division survival, kick-off 7.45pm.

The winners of Sporting Fingal and Shelbourne will be the play-off opposition, so both Drogheda and Bray will be looking to get the job done at United Park this evening.

James Chambers returns to the United squad following a one-game suspension.

And despite some players carrying knocks into the Sligo game, Drogheda have a clean bill of health for the visit of Bray.

United boss Alan Mathews said: "It is now a different game. We were preparing for an away trip but we are now at home. We just have to go out about business and be positive in our approach to the game.

"we can’t afford to be complacent. Bray have now been handed a reprieve, which they will not want to waste. It is a one-off game in which anything can happen."

Winger Gary McCabe (ankle) and central defender Derek Foran (groin) are Bray boss Eddie Gormley's only injury worries ahead of the play-off.

The two players missed last Friday's draw with Bohemians, but both will be given every chance to prove their fitness ahead of the game.

Gormley said: "We gave a very good performance on Friday and worked very hard, with some fringe players putting themselves in the picture for selection.

"We will have to work equally as hard if we hope to get a victory on Tuesday. We will be positive and hope we can get that victory."
