Gary O’Neill earned Shelbourne a vital win to keep their slim hopes of snatching second place in the league alive with his fourth goal in as many games.
O’Neill struck on 74 minutes when ghosting past Darragh Maguire to shoot low past Barry Ryan.
Jason Byrne had earlier hit a post while defender Stephen Caffrey sliced a clearance off an upright as Shels finished with a flourish with Ryan having to make late stops from O’Neill and Glen Crowe.
