Diamond Harry plans up in the air
Connections of Diamond Harry are in no hurry to decide on future plans following his impressive seasonal reappearance at Haydock on Saturday.
The six-year-old defied top weight in impressive fashion, giving 15lb and a two-and-a-half length beating to the strongly-fancied Burton Port in the Timeform Betfair Racing Club “Fixed Brush” Handicap Hurdle.
That was his seventh win from eight starts and his first run since he suffered his only defeat so far when he was third to Mikael D’Haguenet in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.
“There are no decisions yet on anything. There is lots to look forward to,” said trainer Nick Williams.
“It was fantastic yesterday. He’s absolutely fine this morning, no problems.”
Diamond Harry is quoted in several races at next year’s Cheltenham Festival. He is a top-priced 8-1 for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle, 16-1 for the RSA Chase and 25-1 for the Arkle Trophy.
