Cork ladies retain Division One football title
Cork 0-14 Meath 0-12
Geraldine O’Flynn kicked the deciding two points as All-Ireland champions Cork retained their Suzuki NFL Division One crown at Parnell Park.
2005 All-Star nominee O’Flynn finally put some breathing space between the sides as late on, she landed a point from play and a free.
Cork blazed into an early 0-05 to no score lead but Meath, helped by captain Gillian Bennett, were level at 0-07 apiece at the interval.
Bennett finished with 0-07 (6f) as the sides were level on five occasions in the second half.
Last season’s Footballer of the Year Valerie Mulcahy scored 0-04 (3f) for Cork.
Managed by Eamonn Ryan and Mary Collins, the win marked Cork's second League title and gave them an ideal fillip ahead of their Munster championship opener against Waterford on June 24.
