Cork City's Doyle set for Reading switch
Cork City striker Kevin Doyle is currently in Reading undergoing a medical and could sign for the English Championship club this evening.
Doyle opted to move to England after Reading’s bid of €117,000 activated a clause in his contract allowing him to speak with the English side.
Republic of Ireland Under 21 manager Don Givens allowed the striker leave the international side’s training camp ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Israel to undergo a medical and it is expected he will be a Reading player by this evening.
His move ends weeks of speculation with the Royals beating off competition from Burnley, Stoke City and Charlton Athletic for his signature.
Meanwhile, Cork winger Roy O’Donovan has been called into the Republic of Ireland Under 21 squad after Liam Kearney was forced to withdraw with a thigh problem.
