Cork back on track with Waterford win

Alan Bennett got Cork’s league challenge back on track after their FAI Cup disappointment midweek with a vital first goal in this Munster derby.

In a hectic start, the game threaten to get out of hand as the players clashed on numerous occasion with referee Eddie Barr having his hands full trying to keep control.

It settled down in the second half and Bennett struck for the vital opening goal on 70 minutes.

Danny Murphy whipped a super ball over to the back post and Bennett rose to head past Blues’ reserve keeper David Hennessy.

John O’Flynn added the second goal when running through to shoot past Hennessy four minutes from time.
