Clarke returns to Armagh fold
Ronan Clarke is hoping to make his first Ulster SFC appearance since 2009 this summer, having resumed training with the Armagh footballers.
The 2002 All-Ireland winner has been plagued by an Achilles problem in recent seasons, but now has a number of games with his club Pearse Og under his belt.
Armagh are training away in advance of their Ulster Championship opener against Tyrone on June 10. Clarke, 29, is expected to feature in a challenge match before then.
The Orchard men are maintaining a 'wait and see' policy with Clarke, mindful of his past injury troubles and the level of fitness required for Championship football.
Clarke is not the only player Armagh have back on board. Manager Paddy O'Rourke will also have the services of young midfielder Kieran Toner this summer.
The 23-year-old has returned home from a stint in Australia. He maintained a watching brief when O'Rourke's charges trained on Tuesday night.
The availability of the duo is a welcome boost to O'Rourke, whose side were relegated in this year's Allianz League and are now without the retired Steven McDonnell and Paul Hearty.
