Clare make two changes for Munster final06/07/2012 - 12:22:53
Clare will field a team showing two personnel changes when they try to upset hot favourites Cork in Sunday's Munster SFC final.
The Gaelic Grounds tie (throw-in 2pm) will see the Banner men meeting Cork in a provincial football decider for the first time since 1949.
Clare are chasing their third Munster senior success having previously won in 1917 and 1992.
For this weekend's duel, manager Michael McDermott has brought defender Barry Duggan and wing forward Shane Brennan into the starting line-up.
Cratloe clubman Duggan replaces Shane McNeilis at full-back having missed the Allianz League campaign.
Martin McMahon, meanwhile, makes way for Clondegad's Brennan in attack with the latter having impressed as a substitute in the semi-final win over Limerick.
Enda Coughlan was centre forward last time out but now reverts to right half-back with Shane McGrath chosen to lead the Clare attack.
Revealing that the belief and confidence is there for Clare to pull off a shock win, Coughlan told the Clare Champion: "It's days like this that you want to play in. We've worked hard and we've put in the effort.
"We have to believe in ourselves and I think the belief has increased since the Limerick game. Winning a Championship game always brings confidence.
"The win against Limerick seems to have brought a good bit of confidence. We've had two workouts since (against Galway and Offaly) and you can see the lads' confidence is up and they're playing a lot better."
CLARE (SFC v Cork): Joe Hayes; Kevin Harnett, Barry Duggan, Laurence Healy; Enda Coughlan, Gordon Kelly, John Hayes; Gary Brennan, Ger Quinlan; Shane Brennan, Shane McGrath, Alan Clohessy (capt); Rory Donnelly, David Tubridy, Michael O'Shea.
