Chelsea debut for Ba


Demba Ba has been handed his Chelsea debut in today’s FA Cup third round tie with Southampton at St Mary’s.

The 27-year-old moved to the Blues from Newcastle this week and has been named up front by manager Rafael Benitez, with Fernando Torres dropping to the bench.

It is one of five changes made by Chelsea after their 1-0 derby defeat to QPR, with Ashley Cole, Ramires, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard also coming in.

Southampton make two alterations today, with James Ward-Prowse and Jay Rodriguez coming in for Gaston Ramirez and Rickie Lambert.

Southampton: Boruc, Cork, Fonte, Yoshida, Shaw, Puncheon, Steven Davis, Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse, Do Prado, Rodriguez.

Subs: Kelvin Davis, Hooiveld, Lambert, Lee, Mayuka, Reeves, De Ridder.

Chelsea: Turnbull, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole, Ramires, Luiz, Mata, Hazard, Moses, Ba.

Subs: Hilario, Lampard, Torres, Oscar, Ferreira, Marin, Bertrand.
