Cavan's Brady suspended for three months

Cavan half-back Paul Brady will be out of football action for three months, after incurring the wrath of the GAA's Central Disciplinary Committee.

World Handball champion Brady was given a three-month suspension at the GAC meeting last night, after earning a straight red card for an apparent stamp on Conor Gormley in the Cavan v Tyrone Ulster SFC semi-final two weeks ago.

Both Conor Gormley and Tyrone manager Mickey Harte sent letters to the meeting saying that they believed that the incident involving Brady had been an accident.

Cavan, who look certain to appeal the decision, also submitted an independent medical assessments from former Dublin manager and respected doctor Pat O'Neill and presented video evidence.

Stand-in Cavan boss Martin McElkennon will be hoping for an overturn as his side are still in All-Ireland qualifier contention, with Donegal second round visitors on Sunday.

Also at the meeting, Kerry's Tomas O Sé was issued with a warning as to his future conduct.

Television pictures showed O Sé striking an opponent during the Kingdom's recent Munster SFC semi-final victory over Limerick.

Louth hurler Donagh Callan was not so lucky - he has been suspended for three months too, having been sent off in his county's Nicky Rackard Cup game against Leitrim in Drogheda a fortnight ago.
