CAS set appeal date for Suarez

Luis Suarez, Barcelona and the Uruguayan FA have lodged a joint appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the ban handed down by FIFA to Suarez for biting an opponent.

The full decision of FIFA's Appeals Committee was issued on Tuesday and a fresh appeal to CAS was filed yesterday by Spanish lawyers Pintó Ruiz & Del Valle and Irish barrister David Casserly.

It is understood the case will be dealt with in an accelerated arbitration.

In the meantime, Suarez continues to be ineligible to play for Barcelona or Uruguay, pending the outcome of the arbitration.

The hearing will be held on August 8.
