Boylan turns down Dublin hurling job
It has emerged that long-time Meath football supremo Sean Boylan was recently asked to consider an immediate return to management - with the Dublin hurlers.
The Dunboyne herbalist, who retired after 23 years in charge of the Royals last month, was informally approached by the Dublin County Board with a view to him succeeding Tommy Naughton as the capital's senior hurling manager.
A former hurling player and coach, Boylan is renowned for his passion for the small ball game, but while admittedly "flattered", the 61-year-old is to remain out of the inter-county scene for next season.
Boylan plotted many a downfall of the Dublin footballers during his Meath managerial stint.
He most famously guided the Royals to a Leinster championship victory over the Dubs in 1991 after an epic four-game saga.
