Bottom-of-the-table Harps record five-goal win

Finn Harps 5 Longford Town 0
A first-half goal blitz gave Finn Harps a huge lift in their bid to beat the drop as Longford capitulated at Ballybofey.

Kevin McHugh volleyed home Chris Breen’s cross for the opener on 17 minutes.

Shaun McGowan and Breen then combined to set up Conor Gethins for the second just past the half hour.

It was 3-0 on 39 minutes when Town keeper Stephen O’Brien slipped and dropped the ball for Breen to tap home.

Another blunder involving O’Brien and his skipper Sean Dillon gifted McHugh his second two minutes later.

Breen added Harps' fifth with his second of the night eight minutes from time to give them their biggest win of the season and leave them just three points adrift at the bottom with four games to play.
