Best wishes to the Ireland women's rugby team from a host of stars

Sports stars, politicians, pundits and broadcasters joined forces to wish the Irish women's rugby team good luck in the World Cup.

The IRFU put the video online today ahead of the women’s World Cup starting this Friday.

It includes well wishes from politicians Enda Kenny and Joan Burton, RTE pundits Johnny Giles, Eamon Dunphy and Liam Brady, and other broadcasters from RTE, Newstalk and 2FM.

An array of fellow sportspeople also took part, including recently retired runner Derval O’Rourke, walker Rob Heffernan and athletics legend Ronnie Delaney.

Donncha O’Callaghan was just one of many men’s rugby stars wishing the women all the best.

The Irish women’s rugby team arrived in France yesterday to finalise their preparations for the tournament.

The Irish team are in a tough group that includes New Zealand, who are going for their fifth consecutive World Cup women. The other two teams in the group are the USA and Kazakhstan.

Their first match is against the USA on Friday. The match kicks off in Paris at 4pm and, along with their other group games, will be shown live on TG4.

And of course best of luck from us too!
