Atletico Madrid kept yet another clean sheet, so we paid tribute to their awesome defence
Atletico Madrid have built up quite a reputation as one of the finest defensive units in the game, and demonstrated that further with a 1-0 win against FC Rostov.
The Champions League’s Twitter account offered little in the way of encouragement for Rostov before the game.
And so it proved that yet again, as one goal was more than enough for Diego Simeone’s side.

That’s three 1-0 wins out of three for last season’s beaten Champions League finalists.
We’re pretty impressed by that, so we thought we’d pay tribute to the Spanish side’s excellent defensive capabilities. Goals are the currency in the modern game, but Simeone has made defending fashionable once more.
We’ll start with the goalkeeper, Jan Oblak. You have to get up PRETTY early to get one past Jan.

The man is an octopus in goal, but with only two arms, all the more impressive.
Jan, you’re not just another brick in the wall. You ARE the wall.
You give less away than Ebenezer Scrooge on Christmas Eve.
Did you know Atleti have conceded just three goals eight La Liga games so far this season?
Their sheets are definitely the cleanest.
It’s no wonder they sit top of the league. You’re harder to get around than a Snorlax, Atletico.
Oh Atletico, you’re stingier than Mr Burns.
