Ascot announce inspection for round course

The two races on the round course scheduled for Ascot tomorrow will be subject to an inspection at 6.30am.

Officials put plans in place earlier in the week to ensure six races would take place on the straight course, regardless of if the two mile-and-a-half races, which include the Listed John Doyle Buckhounds Stakes, had to be abandoned.

The straight course is described as soft, with the round course heavy, waterlogged in places although the track has benefited from a drying day.

Clerk of the course Chris Stickels said: “We only have occasional showers forecast, if we get a dry night we should be able to give the go-ahead on the round course.”
