Adams the favourite as Antrim announcement due soon

The identity of the new Antrim senior football manager is expected to be revealed next week after three candidates were interviewed for the position on Tuesday night.

Frank Dawson, outgoing selector Gearoid Adams and former Saffrons boss Brian White attended the interviews as Antrim seek a suitable replacement for Liam Bradley.

Adams is seen as the firm favourite to land the job. He was part of the Antrim managerial set-up this past season and Bradley feels he would be 'the perfect guy for it'.

"If Gearoid goes for the job, he will be the perfect guy for it. He'll bring continuity to it that was there," Bradley told the Irish News.

"But there are jobs that people think they are a shoo-in for and then suddenly a guy appears out of nowhere and gets it. I think at this stage it's between Gearoid and Brian White.

"I know Gearoid is well capable of doing the job and Antrim would be getting a good lad. He's a very passionate Antrim man, but he's also a very, very good coach.

"The players really took to him last year. I've no doubt if there was a player's representative on the (interview) panel, the players would want Gearoid."

Adams, the current manager of Antrim Club SFC runners-up St. John's, is believed to have Andy Ward included on his potential Antrim managerial ticket - the former Ulster and Ireland flanker was also part of the Saffrons set-up in 2012.

Belfast native Dawson has plenty of managerial experience, including a stint as Down hurling manager.

He guided club side Burren to the Down Club SFC title last year and is lining up John Rafferty as a key member of his proposed Antrim management team.

White's previous tenure as Antrim manager was between 1999 and 2002, the highlight of which was a shock Ulster Championship win over Down.

It is understood that former Armagh trainer John McCloskey has been proposed as White's assistant for the current role.
