'X Factor' hopeful quits to look after drug-addict brother

Tammy Cartwright has quit 'X Factor' to look after her brother.

The singer was seen performing a rendition of 'One Night Only' on the show on Saturday, and despite impressing the judges and making it through to Boot Camp, she has decided to pull out of the show after suffering an anxiety attack and decided to support her drug-addict sibling.

She said: "My younger brother Gareth has been on hard drugs for many years and he's lived with me for most of those years.

"I made a deal with him - he'd keep off drugs and I would go for it on 'X Factor'. But he broke his promise just before Boot Camp. He was in a bad way and having lots of problems.

"I had reservations about going but I went along. When I was in Liverpool I had an anxiety attack and I knew I couldn't do it.

"I couldn't focus on anything. I was worried about how it would all affect Gareth and wanted to support him. His well-begin is more important to me than fame or money."

Gareth has now cleaned himself up, and Tammy has promised to make a return to the show next year.

She added to The Sun newspaper: "This is not a sob story - I don't want that. I love my life. Now we have to look forwards, not backwards.

"I'll definitely give 'X Factor' another go next year."
