RTÉ funnygirl Jennifer Maguire ditched her trademark glasses, perm and dangling fag - well, the trademarks of her 'Bridget' character in Republic of Telly - as she married long-term partner Lau Zamparelli at an intimate ceremony in Castle Leslie yesterday.

The caustic comedienne and 2fm Breakfast Show co-presenter was surrounded by her brothers and sisters who flew home from America and Dubai, as well as her nieces and nephews and close friends for her wedding to Lau, an English-born actor of Italian extraction with whom she shares a home in Ranelagh, Dublin.

Jennifer wed her “best friend” Lau with one bridesmaid, her sister.

After the ceremony, the 70 guests retired to the ballroom for dinner and a long night of fun and dancing.

Jennifer looked stunning in her Kathy D’Safford gown and Jimmy Choo sandals - a far cry from her on-screen alter ego Bridget .

Jennifer also tweeted yesterday praising the ‘Child of Prague’ for “not letting her down” as temperatures hit the ‘high’ teens on the couple’s big day.

Jennifer is taking the month of July off work and will travel to the Seychelles with Lau, who has worked as a stunt performer in the TV series Vikings, for their honeymoon.
