WATCH: The moment Cheryl first clapped eyes on Liam Payne

As speculations and rumours emerge about Cheryl’s pregnancy with Liam Payne, it’s time to flashback to the moment they met for the very first time.

The moment 14-year-old Liam Payne walked into the X-Factor audition room to sing in front of 26-year-old judge Cheryl.

Little did they know that they would be a couple, not to mind expecting a baby together, eight years later.

In the clip a floppy-haired Liam impresses all the judges with his rendition of Frank Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon.

And even gives Cheryl a cheeky wink at 1:17.

While Simon said he was missing emotion and a bit of fun, he did agree that he had potential while Cheryl made it clear that she really liked him.

Saying "I like you, I think you're really cute. I think you've got charisma, you know, you gave us that cheeky wink”.

Liam unfortunately didn’t make it through to the live shows in 2008 and returned in 2010 to audition for the panel once again.

That year Liam made it to the bootcamp stages of the competition but failed to qualify for the Boys category.

After a suggestion by guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, he was asked to join fellow contestants, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik to form the band One Direction, thus qualifying for the Groups category.

And the rest is history.
