A new supermodel elite has been unveiled by Vogue magazine with only one in the list, Brazilian Gisele Bundchen an existing celebrity.
US Vogue believes they are the women who will take over the mantle from the likes of Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Helena Christensen.
The magazine says these women, unlike their predecessors, are not like previous supermodels.
Celebrity supermodels knew every new designer and photographer, while today’s models “don’t live for it”, but “do a great job and then they leave”.
Sally Singer, US Vogue’s fashion news and features director says: “Fashion, it seems to me, is once again ahead of the curve. It is beginning to embrace a post-celebrity culture.”
Photographed by Steven Meisel, the list includes Czech models Karolina Kurkova and Hana Soukupova, Isabeli Fontana, a Victoria’s Secret model at 16, Russian Natalia Vodianova and Canadian Daria Werbowy.
