Turns out, Ireland has two songs to support at this year’s Eurovision

By Anna O'Donoghue

We know we are far from our Eurovision glory days, but this year we’ve got a sneaky advantage.

Irishman Aidan O’Connor co-wrote this year’s entry for the Czech Republic, so it’s kinda ours too, right?

‘I Stand’ will be performed by Czech artist Gabriela Guncikova in the first semi final on Tuesday May 10 and it’s definitely in with a chance.

Aidan is a teacher and songwriter from Dublin and has co-written 25 songs that have participated in Eurovision national finals around Europe including: Malta, Romania, Switzerland, Lithuania and Moldova.

Since our very own Nicky Byrne isn’t performing until Thursday May 12 we’ve no excuse not to give our douze pointe to our Czech friends.
