Three Irish films to premiere at Colorado festival

The world premiere of three much-anticipated Irish films will take place at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado this weekend.

Feature films Viva and Room along with Ken Wardrop's feature documentary, Mom And Me will all screen in front of an audience for the first time.

Room is directed by Lenny Abrahamson with Emma Donoghue adapting the screenplay from her own novel.

Directed by Man About Dog's Paddy Breathnach, Viva is written by Mark O’Halloran, who also stars in the film.

For Mom And Me, Wardrop travelled to the US to explore the complex relationships men have with their mothers. Shot across the state Oklahoma, voted America's manliest state, the film offers a candid and moving portrait of tough guys and their even stronger mothers.

Irish films account for three of only 27 films listed in the exclusive festival's main programme for this year.

All three were supported by the Irish Film Board.
