Ireland take on Romania in their second outing of the RWC 2015.

Jackie Chan’s The Forbidden Kingdom (Channel 5, 7.00pm)

(2008) Martial arts titans Jet Li and Jackie Chan share the screen for the very first time in this chop socky adventure, a lively East meets West smackdown filmed on location in China.

A teenager (Michael Angarano) who is obsessed with kung fu films discovers the legendary stick weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King (Li), which transports him back to ancient China to join a crew of warriors on a dangerous quest to free the imprisoned king.

It’s hugely entertaining and self-consciously daft, hung loosely on a fantastical yarn that incorporates elements from various well-known legends and novels.

Antiques Roadshow (BBC1, 7.30pm)

Fiona Bruce presents tonight’s show from the scenic venue of Broughton Castle, near Banbury in Oxfordshire.

Among the unusual finds brought in by the public for valuations are an art nouveau vase, a Georgian dolls’ house, a Victorian baby bouncer, a letter from Lord Nelson, a book of early police mug shots, a collection of talismans and a bizarre musical penknife.

Plus, Philip Mould meets a tax inspector who was paid in paintings by several artists – will his artistic gamble now pay dividends?

The X Factor 2015 Bootcamp (TV3, 8pm)

The biggest singing competition on the planet returns exclusively to TV3 this autumn with a whole new presenting line up and judging panel.

X Factor veterans Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versin are back to pave the way for new recruits, pop sensation Rita Ora and much-loved radio DJ Nick Grimshaw.

Our favourite Xtra Factor duo, Olly Murs and Caroline Flack are making their return but this time it's for the main show.

The new series will also see the auditions move out of the rooms and straight into the arenas, with hopefuls having to perform in front of an arena audience from the start in the hope of making it through to the next stage.

First Humans: The Cave Discovery (Ch4, 8pm)

Documentary following the discovery of fossilised remains in a deep and nearly inaccessible cave in South Africa.

The bone fragments recovered were found to have come from a previously unknown species of human ancestor.

The programme charts the painstaking efforts by a team from the University of the Witwatersrand to extract more than 1,500 fossils from the caverns and explores how this discovery has expanded scientific understanding of how the human race evolved from previous, ape-like creatures.

Cider with Rosie (BBC1, 8.30pm)

Anyone who studied English Literature in the 1980s will know this story immediately as Cider with Rosie was the set text for a generation of school pupils.

Now BBC One presents it as the latest in their season of classic 20th-century literature adaptations.

Laurie Lee’s autobiographical memoir is an evocative coming-of-age story set in an idyllic Cotswold village during and after the First World War.

It follows Young Loll as he experiences first love, loss and family upheaval while growing to manhood in an environment seemingly untouched by the trappings of the modern world.

Samantha Morton, Jessica Hynes, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis and June Whitfield star, with Archie Cox as Lol and voiceover from Timothy Spall.

This Is England ’90 (Ch4, 9pm)

Life begins to take a darker turn as autumn draws in and honesty, loyalty and forgiveness are tested to the limit among the group of young friends in the penultimate episode of Shane Meadows’ 1990-set drama.

Lol finds herself confronted with a seemingly impossible task and is forced to face up to some uncomfortable truths.

Kelly continues on her downward spiral, while Shaun escapes the troubles of the present with a trip down memory lane.

Starring Vicky McClure, Thomas Turgoose and Chanel Cresswell.

The Two Million Year Old Boy (More4, 9pm)

Documentary following the accidental discovery of a prehistoric clavicle bone by a child in South Africa, which was eventually identified as belonging to a previously unknown species, Australopithecus sediba.

Palaeoanthropologist Lee Berger and his team examine the remains in an attempt to discover whether the creature in question was a direct ancestor of the human race, which if found to be the case, may fundamentally change the scientific world’s understanding of the evolution of mankind.

**New Series** Clean Break (RTE One, 9.30pm)

Clean Break is a brand new four-part drama set in Wexford and tells the tale of a community driven by love, greed, status and revenge.

Frank Mallon is a man facing ruin. His wife has left him, his daughter Corrina is out of control and the bank is about to seize his home and his business.

When a tiger kidnapping goes wrong, Frank’s world starts spinning out of control and suddenly the answer to all his problems puts him under more pressure than ever before.

Ilo Ilo (BBC4, 10.30pm)

(2013) The middle-class Lim family has not yet felt the economic squeeze like some of the neighbours during the 1997 Asian financial crisis in Singapore.

Unruly high-school student Jiale Lim (Koh Jia Ler) and his parents (Tian Wen Chen, Yann Yann Yeo) are preparing to welcome a new addition to the family and in anticipation, the Lims hire a Filipino immigrant called Teresa (Angeli Bayani) as their live-in maid and nanny.

Teresa is an outsider in a strange city and she initially clashes with Jiale, whose unruly behaviour proves difficult to control. Gradually, the nanny and her teenage ward find common ground and they build an unexpected friendship, which helps to unite the family.

However, when economic reality finally bites for the Lims, they face agonizing choices regarding Teresa’s employment.

**New Series** The Meaning of Life, with Gay Byrne (RTE One, 10.40pm)

Tonight on The Meaning of Life, veteran broadcaster, Gay Byrne, age 80, talks to Hozier, age 25, whose hit Take me to Church has made him a worldwide star.

They talk life, religion and human rights and ‘that song’.

Youth in Revolt (BBC2, 11.10pm)

(2009) Michael Cera essays another loveable loser hoping to defy the odds in Miguel Arteta’s quirky romantic comedy, based on the novel Youth In Revolt: The Journals Of Nick Twisp by CD Payne.

Teenager Nick (Cera) desperately tries to escape from the harsh realities of his life as his parents teeter on the brink of divorce.

While on a camping trip he meets the alluring Sheeni (Portia Doubleday), and summons his imaginary, French alter ego to woo her, but a seemingly endless series of mishaps – not to mention Sheeni’s formidable boyfriend – stand in his way, and look likely to prevent him from finding love.

This Is 40 (Channel 4, 11.10pm)

(2012) Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) have raised two beautiful daughters, 13-year-old Sadie (Maude Apatow) and eight-year-old Charlotte (Iris Apatow), but are now stuck in a rut.

As Debbie goes into denial about turning 40 in the very same week that Pete celebrates the same milestone, husband and wife re-evaluate their stagnating marriage.

They decide an emotional spring clean is in order, which has dramatic repercussions for Pete’s cash-strapped father (Albert Brooks) and Debbie’s employees (Megan Fox, Charlyne Yi) at her upscale clothing boutique, one of whom is dipping her polished nails into the till.
