SPOILER ALERT: Corrie character to finally find love

One 'Coronation Street' actress can't wait for some romantic action on the popular soap.

Veteran actress Beverley Callard denied rumours she will be getting hot and heavy with new recruit Jimi Mistry - who is making his debut on the ITV soap next month - she revealed her character Liz McDonald will find love with another hunky newcomer this year.

She told Digital Spy: "I read those reports and said, 'I didn't know about this, I hope this is true because he's quite dishy!' It's not true. What is happening is they've been screen testing someone for about two weeks for a certain role that is heavily involved with Liz.

"I start filming with him next week and I've not even met him yet. I'm hoping we're not kissing on the first day! She does become romantically involved with someone but it's not Jimi.

"Liz loves a macho man, she tends to go for someone who will dominate her, but of course she won't be dominated because she's a feisty female! I think it's going to go one for quite a while, it should be good."

Beverley is making a grand return to 'Corrie' later this month after initially leaving Weatherfield in April 2011, during which time she pursued a stage career, and the 56-year-old star says the decision to reprise her role as former Rovers Return land lady Liz was a no-brainer.

She said: "To be honest, they write so well for Liz and [producers] told me the plans they had and I just thought, 'I can't say no to this, this is great! I'm absolutely loving it. I've been filming for two months now.

"To me [the Rovers] is the most comfortable set to be in. I love being in the bar. The one disadvantage can be that you're in all hours every day you become involved in every else's storyline."
