Simon Cowell thought his son didn't like him: 'Maybe he hates me'
Simon Cowell used to think his son hated him.
The 56-year-old music mogul has son Eric, two, with girlfriend Lauren Silverman but joked that for the first six months of the tot's life, he was convinced that Eric disliked him.
Simon told Us Weekly: "For the first six months, I honestly thought, [this] is the most one-sided conversation I've ever had in my life, I'm not getting anything back here. Maybe he hates me.
"And then after about a year and a half, suddenly, you get this connection. And they start talking to you. And you can teach them things. It's an amazing feeling."
However, Simon and Eric now have a strong bond and the 'America's Got Talent' judge could not be prouder of his little boy.
He said: "He likes art. He loves animals. … He's a happy boy. We like watching movies together. 'Jungle Book' we've seen 1,800 times. We're on to 'Shrek' now."
Yet just because Simon is now a doting dad doesn't mean he plans to go easier on contestants on the TV talent show.
He said: "If [we] get young, young kids, [I'm] not going to be horribly mean to them. Having said that, if someone comes out and can't sing, I'm not going to say [they] can."
