Pitt flashes wedding ring as news breaks of weekend nuptials

This is a still from Mr and Mrs Smith! This is a still from Mr and Mrs Smith! (but we can't wait to see the real thing...)

Brad Pitt has flashed his wedding ring at a museum – just days after tying the knot in France with Angelina Jolie.

The 50-year-old Oscar winner braved pouring rain to attend the event at The Tank Museum in Bovington in Dorset, England.

Pitt wore dark sunglasses as he entered the site to promote Second World War film Fury, in which he plays a battle-hardened army sergeant.

He removed his shades and posed for pictures beside Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal and David Ayer, writer, director and producer for the film.

The photocall came days after Pitt wed Angelina Jolie at the Chateau Miraval in France, in the presence of the couple’s six children.

Pitt was photographed wearing a gold ring on his wedding finger during the museum event.

Fury, set in 1945, also stars Shia LaBeouf and Michael Pena as an American crew embarking on a deadly mission behind enemy lines.

Pitt plays army sergeant Wardaddy, who commands a Sherman tank and a five-man crew on the assignment.

Wardaddy and his men are outnumbered and outgunned and face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike Nazi Germany when a rookie soldier is thrust into their platoon.

The film will be released nationwide on October 24.

Jolie and Pitt met on the set of their 2005 film Mr & Mrs Smith, in which they played married assassins.

At the time, Pitt was married to actress Jennifer Aniston but has always denied allegations of cheating.

Pitt and Jolie became parents to adopted children Maddox and Zahara before the birth of their first biological child, Shiloh, in 2006.

Pitt was in the operating theatre and on hand to cut the umbilical cord as Shiloh was born by caesarian section in Namibia.

The following year, the Tomb Raider star and Fight Club heart-throb adopted son Pax, then aged three, from Vietnam.

In 2008, their second and third biological children, twins Vivienne and Knox were born at a hospital in Nice, France.

Last year, the couple spoke of their close relationship after Jolie, who won an Oscar for best supporting actress in Girl, Interrupted, announced in a New York Times article that she had had a preventative double mastectomy.

Pitt described Jolie’s decision, made because she carried the “faulty” gene BRCA1 which sharply increases her risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer, as “absolutely heroic”.

In the article, Jolie wrote: ”I am fortunate to have a partner, Brad Pitt, who is so loving and supportive. So to anyone who has a wife or girlfriend going through this, know that you are a very important part of the transition.

”Brad was at the Pink Lotus Breast Centre, where I was treated, for every minute of the surgeries. We managed to find moments to laugh together. We knew this was the right thing to do for our family and that it would bring us closer. And it has.”

Earlier this year, committed humanitarian Jolie was awarded an honorary damehood (DCMG) for services to UK foreign policy and the campaign to end war zone sexual violence.

On receiving the award, she said: “To receive an honour related to foreign policy means a great deal to me, as it is what I wish to dedicate my working life to.

“Working on the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative and with survivors of rape is an honour in itself. I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime, and I am dedicated to it for all of mine.”

Days before receiving the award she co-chaired a global summit in London to End Sexual Violence in Conflict, with then foreign secretary William Hague.
