Osbourne set to become highest paid judge on X Factor

Sharon Osbourne is expected to sign a record £2m (€2.3m) deal to return to 'The X Factor'.

It is reported there was "no way" the star would snub an offer making her the highest-paid judge in the show's history and she is set to sign the deal in the next few days as part of Simon Cowell's plan to save the singing competition's TV ratings.

An insider told the Sunday People newspaper: "Sharon will be an 'X Factor' judge and it is only a matter of days before the deal is finalised.

"She is being paid a hefty sum of £2 million as Simon is desperate to have her on the show.

"She is also expecting to earn half a million more in book and publishing deals. There is no way she would turn down such a well-paid job."

Show bosses feared the 60-year-old star's on-going marital problems with husband Ozzy - including reports the couple have been living separate lives recently - would lead her to pull out of the deal but the pay out could help with the couple being hit with a £1.1m (€1.2m) tax bill.

Meanwhile, judges Nicole Scherzinger and Gary Barlow are asking for big deals to stay on the show.

The former Pussycat Doll wants to double her money to £1.5m (€1.74m) after earning £750,000 (€870,000) less than the Take That singer last year, who is demanding the same figure.
