One Direction will play two Dublin dates in March next year as part of a UK and Ireland tour.

The boy band - who took home the British Single prize at the BRIT Awards last night for their 2011 hit 'What Makes You Beautiful' - have planned 15 gigs, which will begin with two dates at London's The O2 next February.

The tour will also take the group - who are made up of Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson - to Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland before they return to England with dates in Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Nottingham and Birmingham.

One Direction will then conclude their tour at Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena on March 24, with tickets for the shows set to go on sale at 9am on Saturday.

But first, the group are set to hit the road in the US later this month before heading to Australia later this year.

After winning their first ever BRIT Award last night, the 'Gotta Be You' hitmakers praised their fellow musicians Adele and Ed Sheeran, who were also up for the British Single accolade.

Harry said: "We really did not expect to win. The category had Adele and Ed Sheeran [in it].

"For us to be considered among those artists is massive for us. To win just shows how good our fans are.

"They're the best fans in the world. They are amazing and we love them."
