Liam Neeson spent two days in a homeless shelter to study for his breakthrough Hollywood role in Suspect.
The Irish actor played a mute transient on trial for murder in the 1987 movie.
He recalls: "I remember staying in a shelter in downtown Washington for two days as a transient, just to get a taste of that world.
"It was mind-blowing what goes on there at night, those poor guys."
