Murs turned down X Factor judging role

Olly Murs turned down a judging role on the 'X Factor', because he's "too nice".

The former 'X Factor' runner-up has revealed that there were "discussions" about him replacing Louis Walsh on the judging panel of the ITV reality show, having left after 11 years. However Olly has admitted that he couldn't have done the job well, as he'd be too conscious of hurting the contestants' feelings, knowing "how much it would mean to them".

Olly said: "There were discussions, but for me to be judging contestants, I didn't think was the right thing. I'm too nice. I would be unable to say 'no' to contestants because I would know how much it would mean to them. I couldn't ruin their dreams."

Despite turning down the judging role, the 'Troublemaker' singer has said that he thinks it's "better" that he's now going to present the next series of 'X Factor' with Caroline Flack, as he can give the contestants "advice" instead of criticism.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Olly said: "On the presenters' side, I can give contestants my advice and help defend them against the judges. It's better like that for me."

While no one has been confirmed to replace Louis' seat yet, BBC Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw has been the most heavily rumoured name. However, Olly thinks his Take That pal Robbie Williams should get the job.

Olly said: "I was with (Robbie) recently at the O2 and was trying to convince him to do it."
