Moz scraps rest of US tour dates, blames support act for giving him cold

Morrissey has been forced to cancel the remaining dates of his US tour.

The former Smiths star, who had already pulled out of a number of gigs in America due to illness, has now cancelled the rest of the concerts, after contracting a respiratory infection in Miami.

The star announced today that the infection had worsened and the rest of his tour, including rescheduled shows, had been scrapped.

A statement posted on his official fanzine True To You reads: "In the interest of making a full recovery, all further touring plans have been halted.

"Morrissey thanks his fans for their compassion, understanding, and well-wishes during this difficult period as he recuperates."

In a strange twist, the legendary singer, who will release his new album 'World Peace Is None Of Your Business' this month, is said to have caught the illness after opening act Kristeen Young admitted she had a "horrendous cold".

A spokesman said: "The symptoms of which were passed on to Morrissey," which Kristeen denies.

The singer, who claims she was asked to leave the tour entirely, posted on Facebook: "I am very sorry that Morrissey is not feeling well. But I will not tolerate these lies... particularly about my health. This is too much and bizarre."

The star claims she had an "allergy attack", which she overcame in 16 hours and denies boasting about having a cold.
